About Peter

Peter is a Senior Product Support Engineer (PSE), at GE Aviation and a Part Time PhD Researcher at the University of the West of England.

He leads a team of engineers in Cheltenham and supports engineers in Clearwater and Grand Rapids. He is responsible for providing technical support to civil and military customers using small avionic cockpit instruments.

Peter started his career as an engineer at Thales Optronics (Avimo) in 1998 working on the Apache Longbow 64D helicopter and laser detection systems for land vehicles.

In 2006 Peter joined GE Aviation (Smiths Aerospace) to support manufacturing and completed his bachelors undergraduate degree in Electronic Engineering at the University of the West of England. During this time he progressed to sustainment engineering to support customers with obsolescence issues, and reliability improvements.

in 2011, Peter transitioned to GE Aviation Customer Services. He grew his expertise in Cockpit displays and earned his six sigma Green Belt in this role. During this time he also completed his Masters postgraduate degree in Advanced Technologies in Electronics at the University of the West of England.

In 2014, Peter became a PSE team Leader and completed his Building Essential Leadership Skills as part of the Crotonville’s Leadership Curriculum. He leads technical investigations for flight safety issues, obsolescence management, reliability improvements, and liaises with customers / suppliers for technical discussions. Peter is working towards becoming a Controlled Title Holder (CTE). He also volunteers with Girls Get Set to promote engineering in schools.

His experience includes technical support with customers globally including BAE System, Airbus, Airbus Helictopers (Eurocopter), Hawker Beechcraft, Boeing, EasyJet.

Peter has received several awards for Expertise, Imagination, Inclusiveness, Clearthinker and has been nominated for Cheltenham campus awards.

In 2016, Peter starts his PhD Research in Prognostics and Health Management in Avionics.

Peter lives with his wife Hannah, and children Katie, Benjamin and James.

 

Peter is currently working on his PhD part time at the University of the West of England and has the following qualifications

  • Bachelors in Electronic Engineering with Hons
  • Higher National Certificate in Electrical and and electronic engineering
  • National Diploma in Electronics and Telecommunications
